not quite the five-star experience i expected

old carpetstuck door

The room service was a letdown. my caesar salad had old lettuce, and the chicken curry was cold and bland. plus, the coconut shrimp tasted like it came straight from a frozen packet. the carpet was also pretty rough, with rips in some spots. And the sliding door to the balcony was stuck. It was a real struggle to open, i have to say.

The location is very convenient. I easily walked to the Great Barrier Reef terminal (this saved on taxis!). The room was spacious. The hotel provided great customer service overall.

I was a bit disappointed that there were no TV apps like Netflix or YouTube. Even lower-rated hotels often have these options now. I use them often to relax.

the room had a king bed, and i found it very comfortable. it also included an in-room safe. i enjoyed access to the executive lounge. breakfast was adequate there, avoiding queues at the main restaurant.
